The Triangle Gay Men's Chorus (TGMC) announces an open call for male singers to join them for their 2011 Fall concert season and beyond. Interested persons are invited to attend Open Auditions on Tuesday evening, August 9th in Raleigh. There will also be an open rehearsal on Tuesday evening, August 23 from 7pm until 9:15pm at the Durham Arts Council, 120 Morris Street in downtown Durham for interested singers.

Membership is open to gay and gay-affirmative men age 18 and over. Auditions are relaxed, and are for voice section placement only. No prepared selection is required. Contact membership@tgmchorus.org

 

**** Chatham Social Health Council will celebrate their 20th Anniversary, August 11, 2011 from 4:30-9pm @ The Moose Lodge 721 Alston Bridge Rd. Siler City, NC 27344. There will be a meet/greet, dinner, celebration, fashion show, silent auction, live auction & more! This will be a fundraising event for the council. ****The UNC School of Medicine's Infectious Diseases department is doing a study known as healthMpowerment, which is working to create an HIV-prevention/health and wellness website targeted at young (18-30), Black MSM in 
North Carolina.  The are currently looking to expand their website by incorporating an online community where other young, black MSM can connect, support each other, and access sexual health and wellness information. To do this we are recruiting subjects to take an online survey reviewing their favorite gay/black-friendly businesses, and/or participate in an in-person interview discussing their experiences around HIV prevention and treatment as a black, gay man in North Carolina. Contact:  skgold@email.unc.edu or by phone at 919-843-4722

 

****iNSIDEoUT, a youth-led organization that serves lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, questioning, queer and allied youth in Wake, Durham, Orange, Vance, Person, Franklin, Granville and Warren counties, will be starting a program in the Triangle for children ages 7-12 years old this coming Fall. The program is especially for children of variant gender identities and expressions, and children of same-sex parents or other alternative families. All children ages 7-12 are welcome. The group will hold bi-monthly meetings every other Sunday from 3-5 pm beginning in the Fall of 2011. Location details disclosed to registered participants. Meetings will include a variety of fun, social, educational, activist and support-related events, and occasional outings to fun places around the Triangle. Children will also have the option to participate in overnight camping trips and indoor retreats. Dr. John Pittman will be performing in the Fourth Friday Concert at Bösendorfer Hall at Ruggero Piano, 4720 Hargrove Road, Suite 120 in Raleigh.   This will be a very special program as it will be taped to be shown on WUNC-TV's "Our State" in the fall and will include a variety of performers with each being limited to a 15 minute program.  Dr. Pittman will be playing a very unique piece for this performance – "The Concerto for the Left Hand" by Maurice Ravel. The public is invited and there is no charge.
