Event Description:
Now in its 11th year, the Mountain Stage NewSong Contest is one of North America's premier showcases of emerging performers and songwriters. The contest spans an array of genres. Mountain Stage has debuted artists such as The Barenaked Ladies, Ryan Adams, Sheryl Crow, Norah Jones, and Alison Krauss, and is now accepting submissions from ReverbNation artists for its 2012 contest. This year's grand prize winner will receive: 1 - A fully-funded album produced by lestyn Polson (David Gray, Patti Smith, David Bowie), recorded over 10 days at beautiful Echo Mountain Recording and released on the NewSong Recordings label. 2 - A 2013 performance at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. 3 - A live performance on National Public Radio's (NPR) highly acclaimed Mountain Stage show. 4 - An appearance at the 2013 Sundance/ASCAP Music Café. 5 - A fully-funded PR/publicity campaign from the Press House, sponsored by PledgeMusic. 6 - An artist Q&A and CD review of the grand prize album in American Songwriter. Additionally, all entrants will be candidates for future recording, management and performance opportunities. The live performance contest finals will be held Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City, during the CMJ Music Marathon. The NewSong Contest is a gateway to the NewSong artist community, and an effective means for being recognized for future Mountain Stage appearances, NewSong performance showcases (including the series at Lincoln Center) and album releases on NewSong Recordings. Former winners and contest standouts include Ingrid Michaelson, Grace Potter, Arthur Alligood and Amber Rubarth.
