A celebration offering loads of fun and educational

events throughout the first 3 weeks of October.

Upcoming Events 

Saturday, October 1

@ the Center

411 Hillsborough St. Raleigh

2-5 PM

  

The Center is forming a new monthly group called "No Accidents in Life" or NAIL for short. NAIL's vision is to show how "It Gets Better". The group will have opportunities to see first hand how successful members of the LGBT community have been able to find their own successful journey. NAIL meets in different homes in the Triangle, and is open to those age 18 to 30 who are interested.

  
Friday, October 7 - A RALEIGH IS COMING OUT EVENT

FIRST FRIDAY ART AND WINE RECEPTION - always a free event. The LGBT Center of Raleigh is excited to feature the work of students from the NC State University GLBT Center. We offer complimentary wine and delicious food courtesy of Jibarra Mexican restaurant.

2011 LGBT CENTER OF RALEIGH AWARDS DINNER. Our annual dinner at which we will present the Distinguished Service Award to Rev. DURHAM GAME NIGHT. Free and open to all ages, this is a smoke-free, alcohol free social event. If you enjoy playing board games and card games in a relaxed, fun atmosphere, then this is the place for you.

Sunday, October 9 - A RALEIGH IS COMING OUT EVENT

Clarion Hotel State Capital

320 Hillsborough St.

Raleigh, NC 27603

3 PM to 7 PM 

 

AN OLD FASHIONED ROCK AND ROLL / DISCO PARTY presented by the Gay and Gray Initiative. We'll be on the penthouse floor of the hotel where you can enjoy some of the best views of Raleigh. Heavy hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar, and a great DJ will spin the hits for us. There will also be a quiet area if you want to spend some quiet social time. Ticket price: $15, and includes free hotel parking.

Announcing the first support group meeting of the Center's new Transgender Initiative. Meetings, held on the second Monday of the month, offer an open and welcoming environment for all people of the gender spectrum, as well as friends, allies, and significant others.

 

Tuesday, October 11 - A RALEIGH IS COMING OUT EVENT

Dine-and-Donate events at downtown Raleigh restaurants to benefit the LGBT Center of Raleigh. The following restaurants are supporting the Center by donating a portion of their dinner sales on National Coming Out Day: NOFO, The Borough, Remedy Diner, Five Star, Blue Corn Cafe, Pie Bird, Humble Pie, Nosh and Pops Restaurant. Thank you to all these generous participants.

 
Friday, October 14 - A RALEIGH IS COMING OUT EVENT

6:30 - 8 PM

 

The GRAND OPENING of the Center's library, the only LGBT Community Library in the Triangle.

 

Lamba Literary Award finalist Tom Mendicino will be reading from Probation, his smart, engaging and witty novel set in North Carolina. Wine and light refreshments will be served.

 

Saturday, October 15 - A RALEIGH IS COMING OUT EVENT

LGBT PARENTS WINE AND CHEESE RECEPTION at the the Center. Plan on a baby sitter; this is a date night for parents.

The LESBIAN BOOK CLUB meets every 3rd Sunday at the Center. Join us for discussion of Sing You Home, Jodi Picoult's best-selling novel that focuses on a lesbian couple fighting for the right to start a family.

The AFFIRMING FAITH FORUM seeks to establish a place where leaders and representatives of Triangle and affirming faith groups can come together on a regular basis to share what we are doing to help people overcome the fear and hatred that some religious groups promote. We encourage and support each other in our efforts.

Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Raleigh

T-TIME SUPPER CLUB. Monthly pot luck at the Center. Bring your favorite dish ready to serve for the T-Time supper club. Game night, book club, movie night; it can be whatever you want! Take some time to meet others in the community in a welcoming environment.
