Don't forget the drawing for an IPad 2!

Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20 and can be purchased online at our web site: www.lgbtcenterofraleigh.com. The drawing will be held on June 3 at our First Friday art opening.

 

The LGBT Center of Raleigh's Library will be opening in mid August! The mission of the library is to provide access to resources for LGBT study and entertainment, and to encourage exploration of the LGBT experience in a safe and welcoming environment.


We are now accepting donations of books, magazines, DVDs and CDs to add to our growing collection of resources for LGBT study and entertainment. Please bring donations to the LGBT Center during regular business hours. The Center is a 501-c-3 non-profit corporation and all donations are tax deductible. Please not that we are not able to accept the donation of any VHS videos, cassette tapes or records. For more information please email erin@lgbtcenterofraleigh.com

Book Reading by April Joy Bowden. Join the Women's Initiative as we listen to this Durham-based author read from and discuss her book, High: On Love & AddictionThe book chronicles the relationship between two women. During the relationship, it is discovered that one of the women is addicted to crack cocaine. It is a journey of the ups and downs that occur when there is love and addiction. Note: space is limited; please RSVP to Ann at abhm30@yahoo.com to reserve your spot.

First Friday Art Reception: Featuring Burt Tysinger. Burt's hardwood dowel constructions are comprised of a tangle of colored lines creating abstract pieces and three-dimensional sculptures.  25% of art sales from this exhibition will be donated to the Center. Thanks to Jibarra for providing delicious appetizers.

Free and open to all ages, this is a smoke-free, alcohol free social event. If you enjoy playing board games and card games in a relaxed, fun atmosphere, then this is the place for you!

LGBT Center of Raleigh

Gay & Gray: Free wine and cheese reception to acquaint the older members of the community with our new space. Following the reception those who are interested can then get together for dinner at a local restaurant still to be determined. Online invitations have already been sent out, but all who are interested are welcome to join us. Make sure that your friends who do not have computer access are informed about this event, and bring them along. Please RSVP to the center.

Dine & Donate: Come out to Durham's Blue Corn Café for lunch or dinner and experience everything from Cuban style beans to authentic hand rolled empanadas to fresh plantains and mangoes. A percentage of the day's sales will be donated to support the LGBT Center. Provecho!

2nd Annual ASPYRE Youth Leadership Camp. ASPYRE is focused on helping Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered, Queer, Questioning and allied youth to learn valuable leadership principles and have open discussions in a safe and positive environment. Registration is $50.00 per attendee and includes all food, overnight room and activities for the weekend.
