"You can't write if you can't relate"

This year, the Shutterstock content marketing team has been nominated for a couple of prestigious awards for our work and today, I learned that we did NOT win one of them. I'm sure the competition was stiff and it's an honor to be a finalist and blah blah blah but of course I'm disappointed. That said, I'm considering it an opportunity to live my values: If you believe in celebrating failure (not that this is a failure, just a disappointment), then celebrate it! So: Here's why I'm psyched. 1. We were nominated! We swing for the fences with every story, and it's awesome to connect with the ball enough to get recognized for sustained, repeated good work. 2. We applied! It's true that you miss 100 percent of the shots you don't take. Take your shots -- you'll get there. 3. It's a chance to show my incredible team what amazing work they're capable of -- and to encourage them to push even harder going forward. Cheers! Here's to honorable mention! (Also, to those of you following the song lyrics every week, that's Beck.)
Happy creating!
