WHAT'S THIS ABOUT?

Hard Rock Rising 2013 is THE global battle of the bands, spanning the world in search of music's next big talent. Participating Hard Rock Cafes worldwide will host local battles to find a band that can represent their city in a global competition. Bands in 96 participating Hard Rock locations will compete but only a few will win. The band who ultimately wins the Grand Prize, will be awarded the opportunity of a lifetime: to play a World Tour, make an album and video with Hard Rock Records, and win new gear!

Hard Rock Records was founded in 2012 to source and support passionate people seeking an opportunity to showcase their music to the world. Our artists keep ownership of any recordings as well as all the profits from their release. We support them from the day they sign with Hard Rock Records until one year from the release date of their album.

THE DETAILS

Application Process
Congratulations! By receiving this email, you've already begun the process. This is your official invite to apply for participation. If interested, please complete the application process and submit a track for review. Once the application process is complete, you'll move on to the first competition phase, where you'll need to gain enough local votes to participate in the live battle events at your local Hard Rock Cafe. Voting for local participation will take place online between Jan 28 and Feb 11. Hard Rock will announce the start of the online voting program, so fans can download tracks for free from each local Hard Rock Cafe Facebook page. Each download will count as a "vote" for that band. Fans can vote for as many bands as they would like, however they can only vote for each band once and will be required to "Like" the local Hard Rock Facebook page. There is no registration or fee required for fans. For US competition, voters must live within 100-mile radius. For Non-US competition, voters must live within the same country.

Local Battle Events
Once local voting is complete on Feb 11, each participating cafe will invite the top local bands to perform at live battle events hosted from Feb 18 - Apr 15. (See Official Rules for number of bands participating in each market. Number of bands varies per market.) Those bands who received the most votes, along with the Wild Card band*, will be chosen to participate in the live battles. During the live battle, bands will perform for fans and judges, who will choose a winner to move on to the global competition and represent their city as the Local Finalist, competing for the Global Prize. The Local Finalist in each market will win $250 (equivalent in local currency), a $250 Hard Rock Cafe Gift Certificate, and will move on to the global vote round; one step closer to winning the Grand Prize.

*Wild Card
If your location has 11 or less bands participating, one of those bands will be a Wild Card chosen by the cafe. The remaining bands will be chosen based on top votes. If your location has 12 or more bands participating, two of those bands will be Wild Cards, chosen by the cafe. The remaining bands will be chosen based on top votes.

Global Competition
The Local Finalist from each market will move on to compete globally. 96 local finalists will compete via online judging to determine the Top 25 bands. Those 25 bands will be reviewed by an industry panel to determine the Grand Prize and 2 runner-up bands. Votes will only be accepted from April 22 - May 1, so use your time wisely to promote and gain votes. Once again, fans can download tracks for free on Hard Rock Cafe Facebook pages but during this phase, a fan can only vote for one band. After the first download/vote, they can continue to download free tracks but they will not count as votes. Fans will be required to "like" a Hard Rock Facebook page to participate but there is no registration or fee required. The Grand Prize and 2 runner-up bands will be announced on (or about) May 6.

What's the Catch?
None! There is no cost to participate. Hard Rock Rising 2013 THE Global Battle of the Bands is designed to support up-and-coming artists while providing free music to fans and ultimately, to show Hard Rock's appreciation and connection to its musical roots. See the Hard Rock Rising 2013 Official Rules for more details.
