****UNC/Duke Research Initiative on Gay-Parented Families
We are currently seeking volunteer parents to complete a 5 minute online
survey as part of a collaborative research initiative between the
University
of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Duke University. This initiative
has been
developed to address the lack of research on the experiences of lesbian
mother
and gay father-headed families. This important and timely research
needs volunteer research participants to move forward. We are hoping to
recruit a minimum of 100 lesbian mothers and
100 gay fathers in North Carolina. Please help us meet this goal by
taking

****Raleigh - The Human Rights Campaign and Second Glance Productions
are pleased to announce A Night of Glamour" – first-ever fundraising
event to raise awareness around equal rights and benefit the production
of a ground-breaking film, Closet Case.
Closet Case is a feature film that addresses many issues on the
forefront of gay Americans' minds today – same-sex marriage, adoption,
the 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' policy in the military, and most of all,
the rising epidemic of bullying and teen suicides.
"A Night of Glamour" will take place on Thursday, June 23rd, from
6:30-10:00pm. Events at Newton Square, 230 Newton Rd., The event will
feature the premiere of Andante, Bystander, and a short film version of
Closet Case; also, there will be a silent auction, a
bachelor/bachelorette auction, cocktails, dinner and entertainment.
Keynote Speaker Jimmy Creech, a straight ally and author of Adam's
Gift: A Memoir of a Pastor's Calling to Defy the Church's Persecution
of Lesbians and Gays, will headline the main stage. A portion of all
proceeds will be contributed back to the Human Rights Campaign to help
continue the fight against DOMA and other equality issues. Ticket
prices now through Sunday, June 12, 2011

****Durham - Durham County Library will host Rev. Creech on Saturday,
June 25 at 3 p.m. at the Main Library, 300 N. Roxboro St. Free and
open to the public
Jimmy Creech will read from his recent memoir, Adam's Gift, which tells
of this first meeting with Adam and the resulting spiritual
transformation that led him to become a fierce crusader for LBGT
rights. Creech has been charged—twice—with defying the Methodist
Church, and was eventually defrocked because he performed same-gender
marriage ceremonies. But he believes he is standing up for what is
right in the face of great adversity. Durham County Library will host
Rev. Creech on Saturday, June 25 at 3 p.m. at the Main Library, 300 N.
